Clementi Ave 6 exit closed after accident on AYE towards Tuas

SINGAPORE - The Clementi Ave 6 exit along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Tuas is closed after a Malaysian-registered cement tanker overturned on Wednesday evening.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call about the accident on a slip road into the expressway at 7.06pm and it was reported that the driver was trapped.

SCDF dispatched one fire engine, a Red Rhino, two fire bikes, one Specialised Rescue Tender and an ambulance to the scene.

The driver, a 47-year-old Malay man, was released using rescue tools and sent to National University Hospital conscious with minor injuries.

There was also a minor oil spillage from the fuel tank of the cement tanker as a result of the accident but the road has been cleaned up, added SCDF.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a tweet at 7.21pm that there was congestion till Buona Vista exit.

Separately, LTA also tweeted at 7.38pm that there was an accident on the same expressway at the West Coast Way entrance in the direction of Tuas.
