A TransCab taxi burst into flames along Woodlands Road near the Junction 10 shopping mall on Tuesday afternoon, causing a traffic snarl.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at 3.20pm, and responded to the incident with a fire engine, a Red Rhino, and two fire bikes.

The blaze was extinguished within 20 minutes with a water jet, and no injuries were reported, said an SCDF spokesman.

General manager of TransCab, Ms Jasmine Tan, told The Straits Times that the taxi was registered in November 2011, and that the driver had been driving the same taxi since he joined the company in August 2012. She added that the company will be investigating the matter.

Just last Friday evening, a ComfortDelGro MaxiCab also burst into flames along Lorong Chuan. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes and no one was hurt. ComfortDelGro said it is investigating the incident.
