Traffic delays expected at checkpoints in lead up to Chinese New Year

Travellers heading to the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints should expect delays next week in the lead-up to Chinese New Year.

Enhanced security checks during this period will lead to inevitable traffic build-up, and heavy traffic is expected from Feb 4 to Feb 12, said a statement from the the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

The ICA advises those with the BioPass or those registered with the National Registration Office to use the Immigration Automated Clearance System (eIACS) lanes at the bus halls, where clearance can be completed within 12 seconds.

Those using the checkpoints are also encouraged to maintain lane discipline, car-pool or take public transport. They can also monitor the traffic conditions in advance from the Land Transport Authority's One Motoring website at www.onemotoring.com.sg
