Tote Board chairman, members reappointed; new member added

SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Finance has reappointed the chairman of the Singapore Totalisator Board (Tote Board) and six members. A new member has been also appointed, the Ministry said in a release on Monday.

All appointments take effect from Friday, Jan 1.

Brigadier-General (BG) Desmond Tan Kok Ming, director of Joint Operations & Planning Directorate at the Ministry of Defence, joins the board as its newest member.

BG Tan, who joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1988, replaces retiring member, BG Chia Choon Hoong, whose term ends this Wednesday, Dec 31.

Three members were reappointed in May 2014 to the Tote Board, which operates the Singapore Turf Club and Singapore Pools and donates surplus funds generated by gaming revenue to various community sectors.

The board has 11 members, including chairman Moses Lee, who took over from previous chairman Bobby Chin in 2013.

The six re-appointed board members are: OCBC Bank's global commercial banking head Linus Goh Ti Liang; Threadneedle Investments managing director Ng Soo Nam; Eastern Health Alliance group CEO Thali Koattiath Udairam; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Social & Family Development Chan Heng Kee; the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Yeoh Chee Yan; and Deputy Secretary (Policy) at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Ng Wai Choong.
