Third man jailed in online vice ring case

A technician who paid $180 for the sexual services of a 16-year-old girl was jailed for 12 weeks on Thursday.

Muhammad Sufyan Misbari, 31, a former civil defence officer, pleaded guilty to commercial sex with the underage girl at Hoover Hotel at Balestier Road on March 1.

He is the third man to be jailed in the case.

The court heard that the minor, a Secondary 4 student, was tricked by the alleged pimp Malcolm Graham Head, 32, into believing that she was going to be a social escort when he procured her for prostitution..

Head had operated his online ring prostitution services by advertising the sexual services of his working girls.

Sometime at the end of February, Sufyan visited the Locanto website and saw the minor's advertisement under "all erotic services''. He sent an SMS text message to the telephone number listed and received a reply that she was unavailable.

On March 1, he received an SMS informing him that the minor was available to provide sexual services.

He booked a hotel room in Balestier Road and paid $50. He then sent a text message to the number giving the details of the hotel room he booked.

The minor was told to proceed to the hotel room and to collect $180 from Sufyan. He neither asked for her age nor asked to see her identity card before having sex with her, the court heard.
