A visitor at the fifth Singapore International Photography Festival admiring Proof - a collection of contact proofs from photographic film - by award-winning Polish documentary film-maker and photographer Tomasz Gudzowaty. The work is part of the Archive As Conservation exhibition, one of two festival highlights launched at the National Library's open plaza yesterday. Also launched was the Open Call Showcase, featuring the work of 40 professional and amateur photographers from 18 countries. This year's photo festival, with the theme The Archive, looks at how social consciousness affects one's perception of photography. Over 200 people attended the launch of the two exhibitions, which are on until Nov 13.
