SINGAPORE - Some 2,000 Tanjong Pagar and Radin Mas residents gathered on Sunday morning to show their support for Singapore's athletes at the SEA Games, which takes place next month.

About 800 residents went on a 1km walk along Telok Blangah Crescent. They took turns to carry a replica of the official SEA Games torch - which they also lit - during the walk.

Some took part in activities such as rock-climbing, archery and paintball.

The event at Radin Mas Community Club was part of the nation-wide Community Sports Festival, which is being held this weekend and the next. The initiative by the People's Association Community Sports Clubs is meant to provide a range of sports activities for people to take part in.

Mr Chan Chun Sing and Ms Indranee Rajah, both Members of Parliament in the Tanjong Pagar GRC, and Radin Mas MP Sam Tan also attended the event.
