Tampines accident: Parents of two brothers keep memories of boys alive

A year after their two sons died in a horrific traffic accident near their home in Tampines, Mr Francis Yap and his wife Madam Suliani Ang, are keeping the memories of the boys alive, in their new home.Even though they moved to a new flat in Choa Chu Kang last November, they have a shelf displaying their boys' favourite toys, which they showed to The Straits Times on Mondayafternoon, the same day the driver of the cement-mixer that killed their sons was sentenced to jail.Munir Mohd Naim, 57, had made a left turn without stopping at the cross-junction of Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Street 45 on Jan 28 last year, when his truck hit Nigel Yap Yew Cheong, 13, and Donavan Yap Teck Siong, seven, who were cycling across the road. He was sentenced to two weeks in jail and will be banned from driving all vehicles for five years on his release.
