Suspect believed to be responsible for four cases of theft from vehicle arrested

A 32-year-old man believed to be responsible for four cases of theft from vehicle in the vicinity of Jalan Rumah Tinggi and Jalan Bukit Merah was arrested on Wednesday.

Police said in a statement on Thursday that four such cases were reported at the carpark of Jalan Rumah Tinggi and Jalan Bukit Merah since November and about $800 worth of cashcards and other valuables were stolen.

Following investigations, officers from the Clementi Police Division arrested the suspect near Jalan Rumah Tinggi at about 5.25pm and recovered a mobile phone from him.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing for possible involvement in other theft from vehicle cases. If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum penalty of three years' jail and a fine. The police advise drivers to park in well-lit areas, remove cash-cards and other valuables from their cars, and to install anti-theft systems.
