Many find it difficult to cope after a traumatic experience. They suffer in silence alone. But there is help out there in community. The Sunday Times profiles new support groups - one for victims of sexual assault and two groups for divorced dads.

Alan felt so lost and helpless when his wife of 10 years wanted a divorce. They had been slowly drifting apart but the last straw was when he suspected her of cheating on him.

Naturally, she denied having an affair. Alan (not his real name), a 42-year-old businessman, said: "By then, the hurt was too deep and we had too many misgivings."
