StarHub: SingTel yet to submit EPL cross-carriage orders

Football fans wanting to catch the English Premier League (EPL) this Saturday on StarHub's set-top box may face delays , the telco hinted in a media release sent out after 5pm on Monday.

Its head of home solutions Ms Lin Shu Fen said that the telco has yet to receive any orders for EPL from SingTel. All customers who want to watch the EPL via StarHub's platform must order from and make payments to SingTel, which will then submit the orders to StarHub. "To date, we have not received any cross-carriage provisioning order from our competitor even though they commenced sales on Aug 1 despite reminders and their legal obligations," she said.

The Media Development Authority has specified that SingTel has to ensure that a customer is able to access the EPL channels through any set-top box - its own or StarHub's - within five working days of getting an order.

StarHub has urged SingTel "to send all cross-carriage provisioning orders to us without any further delay, to ensure that viewers can enjoy EPL on cross carriage successfully".

Ms Lin added: "We assure customers that StarHub will do all we can, to be ready for our customers, to broadcast on the opening day of the season. We are working closely with MDA to facilitate cross-carriage successfully."
