From tomorrow, all existing and new StarHub Mobile postpaid customers will enjoy free local data access to nine Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) mobile apps for one year.
The free apps, which can be downloaded via the Apple App Store or Google Play on mobile devices, are AsiaOne, Berita Harian, Lianhe Wanbao, Lianhe Zaobao, The Business Times, The Straits Times, ONE FM91.3, Kiss92 and UFM100.3.
Other apps offered by SPH will be added in the coming months.
This collaboration is part of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between SPH and StarHub in March to take part in joint projects to take advantage of opportunities in the converged media space.
The partnership will span areas such as advertising sales, cross-media content creation and publishing, data analytics and marketing.
StarHub brings to the partnership its television products and business expertise, whereas SPH contributes news and content production know-how.
Mr Anthony Tan, SPH's deputy chief executive, said the collaboration "will bring the best mobile news, lifestyle and radio content to our customers any time locally without worrying about data caps".
This collaboration follows the debut of the Zaobao Keywords news programme on StarHub's E City channel on July 4. The three-minute video news talkshow aims to help viewers understand major news stories.
Ms Jeannie Ong, StarHub's chief strategic partnership officer, noted that mobile users in Singapore are accessing more content on the go.
"As soon as our partnership MOU was inked, we started working closely together and tapping each other's strengths for the benefit of our customers," she said. "We... will have more good news in the pipeline for consumers in Singapore."
