Train service on a stretch of the East-West Line was delayed by about 45 minutes Friday morning .

An SMRT spokesman said westbound train service from Jurong East to Joo Koon started at 6am instead of 5.14am due to a stalled maintenance vehicle.

Operator SMRT activated free buses for passengers travelling between the affected stations, and made announcements at all affected stations to keep commuters informed of the delay.

It apologised for the inconvenience caused.
