ST170 Treats is proving a hit with readers.

The year-long programme to mark The Straits Times' 170th birthday has already received close to 4,000 entries in less than a week, after it was launched last Tuesday.

The first set of Treats includes 10 pairs of tickets to American singer Christina Perri's concert at Resorts World Sentosa on Feb 27, and a seven-course dinner for two, worth more than $800, at acclaimed French restaurant Jaan.

Other goodies include a two-night junior suite stay for two on board Star Cruises' SuperStar Gemini to Malacca or Kuala Lumpur, worth more than $3,700, and a "discovery menu" for two, worth more than $500, at Corner House restaurant in the Botanic Gardens.

Said Straits Times editor Warren Fernandez: "The response has been fabulous, and we are glad our readers seem to be keen on the Treats we have lined up for them.

"We are working with our partners on more Treats to come for the rest of this special year, as we mark both ST's 170th and Singapore's 50th birthdays."

Some of the giveaways have been specially selected by the paper's senior beat writers, including food writers Wong Ah Yoke and Tan Hsueh Yun.

Throughout the year, more new Treats, including front-row seats to see British boy band One Direction perform in Singapore next month, will be unveiled on the contest website.

For a chance to win, readers just need to answer a question about the prize they want.
