The time for giving and sharing will start very soon: We will unveil tomorrow (Dec 13) the name of the first lucky winner of our inaugural Straits Times 12 Days of Christmas Surprises.

He or she will win one of the most coveted tech products in town.

For the subsequent 11 days, 11 more readers will get numerous tech gadgets and household appliances worth thousands of dollars in total, courtesy of our presenting partner Standard Chartered.

The name of each daily winner and the prize he or she wins will be revealed at www.straitstimes.com/st-christmas-2013 every day in the afternoon.

As part of The Straits Times Appreciates Readers (Star) series to reach out to our readers and the community, the daily reveal aims to spread festive cheer and reward those who need it most.

All you need to do is tell us in not more than 40 words: "Why I or my loved one deserves to get a gift from The Straits Times."

E-mail your answer to stxmas@sph.com.sg and include your full name, NRIC number and cellphone number. The contest ends at noon on Dec 23.

Please "like" The Straits Times Facebook page and follow us on Twitter@stcom, too. We are looking for the best and most genuinely heartfelt answers.

As of Thursday, readers have sent in about 900 entries.

Some of the contributions can be viewed on the microsite which also contains stories such as the best shopping deals, recipes by our resident food critic Tan Hsueh Yun, as well as the most scenic spots to get the best festive photographs.
