SPH Magazines bags eight media awards

SPH Magazines swept a total of eight awards for its leading titles at the MPAS Awards yesterday.

This made the publisher, a wholly owned unit of Singapore Press Holdings, one of the biggest winners at the event organised by the Media Publishers Association Singapore (MPAS), which recognises the achievements, best practices and top talent of Singapore's magazine publishing industry.

The award ceremony was held at The Fullerton Hotel.

Icon Singapore, a luxury lifestyle magazine for women, was once again named Chinese Media of the Year. It profiles and reports on international celebrities, high fashion and jewellery, coveted timepieces, beauty and luxury living.

Regional tech portal HardwareZone won Consumer Review Media of the Year.

Female, a leading fashion and beauty magazine in Singapore, was awarded Fashion Media of the Year.

"As one of its key tenets, it champions local talent, and engages forward-thinking women and the millennial generation with sharp insights, creative visuals and inventive videos. And its audience is responding well: Today, it enjoys an almost twofold increase in digital page views from the previous year while maintaining its leading position in print readership," said SPH Magazines in a statement.

The Peak Selections: Gourmet & Travel, a guide to the best dining and travel experiences, was named Food Media of the Year for the fourth year running, while SilverKris, the in-flight travel magazine of Singapore Airlines, garnered two awards - In-Flight Media of the Year and Travel Project of the Year.

The Johnnie Walker House Edit, which is produced for premium drinks distributor Diageo, bagged the Contract Publication of the Year (Gold) award. Luxury website The Peak was conferred a silver award for Website of the Year.

SPH Magazines chief executive Loh Yew Seng said: "Awards like these help to validate and confirm SPH Magazines' capabilities in enabling brand owners and marketers to reach a broad spectrum of audience segments and networks through the extensive multi-platform touchpoints.

"We will continue to strive to produce high-quality magazines and websites that effectively serve our readers and partners."
