Three experts will be answering burning questions about the haze at a special online forum organised by The Straits Times. From noon to 1pm on Monday, readers can post questions on the ST's Facebook page during The Straits Times Facebook Readers' Engagement Session on the Haze.
The hour-long forum is aimed at addressing concerns that readers may have especially if the haze returns. The experts who will answer the questions are: Dr Ong Kian Chung, a respiratory medicine specialist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. Dr Ong is also president of the Chronic Pulmonary Disease Association in Singapore.
Dr Erik Velasco, a research scientist at the Centre for Environmental Sensing and Modelling, part of the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. He studies air pollution, mainly in large tropical and subtropical cities.
Dr Santo Salinas, a senior research scientist at the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing at the National University of Singapore. He researches atmospheric radiation and aerosols, and remote sensing.
The online discussion is part of the newspaper's efforts to engage readers and help provide them with answers to major topical issues. Similar sessions have been held on subjects such as how best to control traffic congestion here and the Primary 1 registration process.
