Sony Singapore is conducting its sixth annual book donation drive from Aug 5 to 25.

Called the South African Mobile Library Project, this drive aims to bring new and second-hand English children's books to some 600 rural South African schools.

"With the help of Singaporeans, we believe that we can provide children in South Africa with the necessary tools to nuture their inquisitive nature and ensure a brighter future for them," said Mr Yasuhide Yokota, managing director of Sony Electronics Asia Pacific and Sony Electronics (Singapore).

Since its inception in 2008, the drive has collected 44,000 books, and organisers hope to add another 13,000 books to that collection this year. Members of the public may donate their books at the Sony Store in Wisma Atria and the Sony Centres in Jurong Point and Funan Digital Mall.
