Police have arrested a 33 year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft along Bayfront Bridge.
On April 15, at about 12.30 am, a 38 year-old woman was walking along the bridge when a man came from behind and snatched her handbag, which was slung on her right shoulder. The victim put up a struggle but the thief managed to flee with her handbag, which contained approximately $30 worth of cash and other personal belongings. The victim lodged a police report.
Officers from the Central Police Division viewed several closed-circuit television camera footage and made enquiries. They established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Jalan Buroh on April 23 at about 2.15pm.
If found guilty, he faces up to seven years' imprisonment and caning.
