SMRT to close stretches of Circle Line on May 12 and 19 for cable replacement

SMRT will temporarily close stretches of the Circle Line on two Sundays this month to speed up a programme to replace power cables on the line.

On Sunday, May 12, Marymount and Caldecott stations will operate with a single platform from 6am to 10am. Trains travelling in the direction of HarbourFront or Dhoby Ghaut will stop at the same platform, as the other side is closed for cable change works.

This will add about 10 minutes of travelling time to commuters. Signs will be put up at affected stations, and staff will be present to guide commuters.

On Sunday, May 19, a similar arrangement will take place at Botanic Gardens and Farrer Road stations from 6am to 10am.

The cable replacement programme started in January this year. SMRT expects to replace power cables at all 30 stations by December this year.
