Trains on the East-West line were travelling slower on Tuesday morning because of a track circuit failure, SMRT said.

Responding to queries by The Straits Times, a spokesman said the circuit failure occurred at Clementi station at 7.19am. Signallers were deployed immediately to assess the situation.

Commuters had reported slow-moving trains on the East-West line in the morning and trains stopping frequently. However, SMRT's Twitter feed had no information about a disruption or delay in train services. SBS Transit's North-East Line also faced problems in the morning for about 25 minutes.

SMRT said that by 1.02pm, the issue was resolved and trains were travelling at their normal speed.
