After a day of islandwide showers, the skies cleared up just in time for merrymakers to enjoy Pedestrian Night On Orchard Road yesterday. With Christmas decorations still lit up, yesterday's edition was an extra-colourful affair.

But there was also a taste of highlights to come, with performers and stilt walkers from next month's Chingay Parade entertaining visitors as they walked down Singapore's shopping belt - 660m of which was closed to traffic.

There were also performances from local acts such as a cappella group MICappella. Last night's event, along with next month's Pedestrian Night which takes place on the first Saturday of each month, were organised to replace the ones cancelled in October and November due to the haze.
