Six domestic helpers will be fighting it out in the "Domestic Helper Cookout" competition to bag prizes for themselves and their employers this Friday at the Asian Food Channel Studio at Orchard Central.

They were each nominated by their employers, in an entry stating his or her domestic helper's speciality.Dishes in the line-up include a new take on the Chilli Crab, a healthier version of Roti Jala, and restaurant style dishes like Crispy Prawn with Golden Salted Egg.

One of the contestants, Ms Wiji Asih, 32, nominated by her employer Mr Marcus Tan, will be preparing her speciality, Nasi Lemak Istimewa. The competition - a joint promotion between Singapore Press Holdings' CATS Classified and Nation Employment Pte Ltd - is organised with the aim of showcasing the invaluable contributions of domestic helpers working and living in Singapore.

Three nominees and their nominators will each win $300 cash and an iPad mini worth $578, while the other three pairs will get a consolation prize hamper worth $200.
