The fire at SingTel's Bukit Panjang building on Wednesday afternoon damaged some of its network infrastructure, affecting phone, broadband and TV services in several parts of Singapore.

A SingTel spokesman said this affected some fixed voice lines, broadband, and TV services in Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, Chua Chu Kang, Upper Bukit Timah and Mandai, as well as mobile services in parts of Woodlands, Marsiling and Kranji.

"Some services have already been restored since the fire was extinguished at around 3pm. Our engineers will continue to work through the night to restore the remaining services as soon as possible," said the spokesman.

"We apologise to affected customers for the inconvenience they have experienced and thank them for their patience," he added.

Customers can read regular updates via the provider's Facebook, www.facebook.com/singtel, and its @singtelsupport Twitter account.

Data lines for some corporate customers were also affected, such as Singapore Pools. Its sales and payment operations were affected, leading to the day's 4D draw being conducted at 9pm instead of 6.30pm. Sales at its main branch on Middle Road are also being extended til 8.30pm.
