It is still not too late for football fans wanting to catch the English Premier League (EPL) season which starts this Saturday.

Both StarHub and SingTel issued statements late on Tuesday assuring fans that they will be able to catch even Saturday's opening game as long as they sign up for an EPL package by Thursday afternoon. SingTel set its cut off time at 4pm on Aug 15.

StarHub's head of home solutions Ms Lin Shu Fen said the telco will be able to fulfil all orders if it receives EPL orders from SingTel by 7pm the same day. All customers who want to watch the EPL via StarHub's platform must order from and make payments to SingTel, which will then submit the orders to StarHub. "We are ready to deploy more resources to help those who choose to catch BPL cross-carried on StarHub TV to have their channels activated in time for the Liverpool v Stoke City opening match," she said.

The Media Development Authority has specified that SingTel has to ensure that a customer is able to access the EPL channels through any set-top box - its own or StarHub's - within five working days of getting an order.
