SINGAPORE - Pikachu and other Pokemon will be taking a trip to Changi Airport on Friday (Nov 18), when the airport hosts Singapore's first Pikachu parade.
"Changi Airport will become the lair for the ultra cute Pokemon that have taken the island, and the world, by storm!" said Changi Airport Group (CAG) in a press release.
Two Pikachu parades will be held at Terminal 3, at 10.30am and 7.30pm. Admission is free.
At annual Pikachu parades in Japan's Yokohama, about 50 life-sized Pikachu characters march in the streets as fans of the anime and game ogle and snap pictures.
Pikachu is the iconic mascot for the Pokemon franchise.
Pokemon, short for pocket monsters, rose in popularity this year after the launch of Pokemon Go, an augmented reality mobile game app.
Pokemon cafes, plush toys and other related products have popped up since.
Changi Airport put up a short video with a taste of what is to come on its Facebook page on Thursday.
A chirpy Pikachu appears in front of an airport runway and does a little jig as a Singapore Airlines aircraft cruises past.
CAG added that various activities will be held at Terminals 2 and 3 throughout the year-end holidays.
