Singapore, Thailand and US conclude trilateral air exercise

Singapore, Thailand and the United States concluded a trilateral air force exercise on Friday at Korat Air Base in Thailand.

The 19th iteration of Exercise Cope Tiger was conducted in Singapore and Thailand over two phases in December 2012 and this month.

This year's exercise saw about 80 aircraft, 36 ground-based air defence systems, and more than 2,000 personnel from the three nations deployed. For the first time, the Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) Surface-to-air PYthon-5 and DERby (Spyder) ground-based air defence system was used as part of the exercise.

Participants also provided basic health and dental services to residents living around Korat Air Base. Exercise Cope Tiger, which has been conducted since 1994, seeks to enhance professionalism among the participating forces, and to promote closer rapport and mutual understanding.
