An international advisory panel has been appointed to advise the Government on issues related to transboundary pollution.

The formation of the International Advisory Panel on Transboundary Pollution was announced by Environment and Water Resources Minister Vivian Balakrishnan in Parliament on Tuesday during his ministry's budget debate.

The panel, co-chaired by Professor S. Jayakumar and Professor Tommy Koh, consists of legal experts from Singapore and abroad.

The panel, said Dr Balakrishnan, will provide insights on trends and developments in international law relating to transboundary pollution, issues arising under international law from the impact of transboundary pollution and on solutions and practical steps which Singapore can adopt.
