Miss Mermaid Singapore 2016 winner Audrey Chen, 25, an entrepreneur, being carried by a hotel guest to the stage at the Miss Mermaid Singapore Coronation Night at Village Hotel Changi yesterday.

The hotel guest was one of the volunteers who offered to carry the mermaids on stage, which is quite a distance away and difficult for the contestants to walk to with their fins on.

Ms Chen will represent Singapore at the Miss Mermaid International competition in Egypt in October. She won a trophy, $2,000 cash, and a fully sponsored trip to the Red Sea, Egypt, as well as a six-month aesthetic doctor treatment package.
