SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be conducting a ground deployment exercise at Nex shopping mall in Serangoon on Friday (April 1).

The exercise, involving about 70 SCDF personnel and 20 emergency and supporting vehicles, will begin at 1.30am and end at about 4am.

In a statement on Thursday, SCDF said such exercises are part of its ongoing efforts to validate and update operational plans and procedures.

The public is advised not to be alarmed. All operational vehicles participating in the exercise will have their beacon lights switched on to alert motorists.

Exercise signage will also be placed in the vicinity to alert members of the public.

To facilitate the movement and deployment of SCDF emergency vehicles in front of Nex, one out of two lanes of Serangoon Central, in the direction of Boundary Road, will be closed.

The lane closure will be in effect from 1.30am on Friday till the end of the exercise.
