SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rescued two workers who had been trapped in a gondola for nearly two hours on Thursday evening (Sept 3).

The men, both Indian nationals aged 21 and 43, were trapped between the 14 and 15th storeys of the building after the gondola malfunctioned.

The SCDF was alerted at 5.42pm to the situation at 20 Anson Road, and despatched two fire engines, two rescue vehicles, two supporting vehicles and one ambulance.

An SCDF rescuer rappelled from the 20th storey onto the gondola to secure the men, after which they broke the window on the 14th storey and brought the men to safety. Both men were unhurt.
