SINGAPORE - About 60 firefighters put out an early morning fire at a plastic materials factory on Friday.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at Fan Yoong Road, at 2.58am and its resources were at the scene within 8 mins, the SCDF said in a statement.
On arrival, the fire had spread to an area the size of a football field. At the height of the fire, firefighters encircled the factory with 12 water jets, using foam in selected areas. SCDF's unmanned firefighting machine was also deployed in the operation.
The fire was brought under control within an hour and extinguished at about 7am. SCDF is currently carrying out damping down operations.
Four workers at the premises escaped unhurt and there are no known injuries, SCDF said.
