A scaffolding at a construction site on Sentosa collapsed on Wednesday afternoon, killing one worker and injuring 10 others.

The collapse occurred at about 3.15pm at a worksite near Palawan Beach, where the new Family Entertainment Centre is currently being built. The building is due to be completed by the end of this year and the scaffolding was supporting a section of a beam under construction. The injured workers were taken to Singapore General Hospital and they are said to be in a stable condition. One worker has since been discharged.

A Sentosa spokesman said: "Sentosa Rangers and beach patrol officers were immediately activated to provide assistance on site. The ambulance service was also called in. Sentosa is working closely with the Singapore Civil Defence Force to assist the injured workers."

At about 5pm, the area around the site was still cordoned off, and police officers and Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel were seen entering and leaving the site.
