SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will conduct military exercises in several areas islandwide from 8am on April 6 to 8am on April 13.

The exercises will take place at Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang and Mandai during that period.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) noted that blanks and thunderflashes will be used. It advised the public not to be alarmed and avoid those areas.

The SAF will also conduct live firing exercises in the Pasir Laba (SAFTI) live firing area during that same period from April 6 to April 13. Live ammunition and flares will be used.

Sea vessels and crafts sailing through the Western Johor Straits during this period should keep within the 75m Navigable Sea Lane and not stray into the live firing boundary, said Mindef.

In addition, the ministry proclaimed the islands of Pulau Sudong, Pulau Senang and Pulau Pawai as manoeuvring and firing grounds.

It advised the public to keep clear of the islands, and to stay away from the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will conduct live firing exercises around the three islands daily from April 6 to April 10 from 7am to 11pm.

The exercises will last from 8am on April 11 to 4am on April 12, and from 8am to 6pm on April 12.

Flares will be released during the night firing.
