Russian tourist's body found in Swissotel on Wednesday

The body of a 33-year-old Russian tourist was found in Swissotel The Stamford on Wednesday morning.

Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force had to remove the body from a fifth-floor beam, where it was stuck. It is not known how the man's body ended up there, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police said that they received a call requesting assistance at 5.53am. Police investigations at the scene took about 12 hours, and cafes on the first and second floors of the hotel were temporarily closed during this time.

A spokesman for hotel said they are are providing their full cooperation and support to police investigations. He added: "We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and are giving them any assistance they need."
