Rivervale Plaza shops back on their feet after rainwater leakage

It was business as usual for shops at Punggol's Rivervale Plaza affected by Wednesday's rainwater leakage.

Staff at Mavis Tutorial Centre said that classes would be going ahead as usual. The stationery store and hardware store had customers milling around, while the lunch hour crowd filled the corner Kopitiam foodcourt.

A contractor supervisor who was seen on site said that the workers had worked through the night, and that the work should be complete by the end of the Thursday.

Workers were seen beside the mall's car park, located above the affected shops, applying coats of waterproof binder on the concrete area where rain had seeped through on Wednesday.

The affected tenants were aware of the works, but remained unhappy.

"If they had acted early when we first complained, this wouldn't have happened," said Madam Chan Siew Eng, 56, owner of Sengkang Books and Stationeries.
