Ren Ci Hospital's bed capacity to increase 60% over two years

REN CI Hospital is boosting its total bed capacity by about 60 percent to about 800 beds by 2015.

A new day rehabilitation centre service will also be introduced at its community hospital at Novena from next month, said Ren Ci chairman Chua Thian Poh at the hospital's charity tribute dinner at Orchid Country Club on Friday evening.

The new beds will come from a new nursing home in Bukit Batok, and the conversion of existing office space at Ren Ci Community Hospital. Four wards, which are currently being leased by the Singapore Christian Home, will also be eventually returned to Ren Ci and more beds will be added after renovations of these wards.

"Ren Ci has been evolving and expanding since it was first established in 1994...(it) will continue to grow and reach out to more needy sick and frail seniors in our community," said Mr Chua. Health Minister Gan Kim Yong was the guest of honour at the charity dinner which raised $1.15 million to help sick and needy senior citizens in the community.
