Registers of electors to be updated

The registers of electors will be updated in preparation for the presidential election in September.

In a statement yesterday, the Elections Department (ELD) said the revision to bring the registers up to date will be done by July 31.

Any person who meets the following qualifying criteria as of June 1 will have his or her name included in the register of electors for an electoral division:

  • is a Singapore citizen;
  • is aged 21 or above;
  • is not disqualified from being an elector under any current law;
  • has a Singapore residential address on his or her NRIC; or a local voting address for those residing overseas. The revised registers will be open for public inspection for two weeks this month. ELD will provide more details about how to check the registers closer to the date.

Aspiring candidates for the upcoming reserved presidential race have been able to collect application forms online or from the ELD since Thursday.
