Public paying last respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew to queue at Padang from Thursday, 7am

SINGAPORE - The queue for members of the public paying their last respects to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew will start at a different location - the Padang - from Thursday, March 26, at 7am.

The public is advised to take public transport, said a statement from the state funeral organising committee.

There will be a special lane at the Padang for the elderly, pregnant women, school children, families with children under six years old and those with special needs.

There is no change in the timing for the public to pay their last respects. They can do so round the clock daily till 8pm on Saturday, March 28.

In view of the large crowd, a long waiting time can be expected. Members of the public have been urged to remain orderly and be patient, and to follow the directions of the marshals on the ground.

Ground personnel will be distributing water to those waiting in line.

Updates on the queue waiting time will continue to be provided on an hourly basis.
