The Ministry of Law is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the Legal Profession Act.

The Bill put forward attempts to streamline regulatory regimes into a single regulatory framework, and address practical, procedural and interpretational issues from the Act's current provisions.

Suggested changes also include empowering the Law Society to introduce a requirement for lawyers to disclose the number of hours they have spent each year on pro bono work.

Public consultation on the proposed amendments is open from Monday till Apr 11. The draft of the Bill can be viewed at www.minlaw.gov.sg and www.reach.gov.sg.
