SHAH ALAM (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Red Carpet, Malaysia's first all-stars interactive wax museum, has opened its doors to visitors who wish to see the wax figure of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and to pay their respects to the first prime minister of Singapore.

I-Berhad information manager Tang Soke Cheng said the public could visit the Red Carpet until March 29, in line with the week-long national mourning period observed by Singapore.

"We feel a need to honour Mr Lee's farsightedness and fighting spirit in transforming what many deem as a dwarfing nation into a gigantic economic force," said Tang.

Tang was present at the Red Carpet to receive Singapore High Commission First Secretary Ang Wenting, who dropped by the interactive wax museum to thank visitors for their support and prayers for the late Mr Lee and his family.

Mr Lee, 91, died at 3.18am on Monday at the Singapore General Hospital from severe pneumonia.

Apart from Mr Lee, the Red Carpet is also home to renowned statesmen from the world over, including Malaysia' first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, South Africa's Nelson Mandela, US president Barack Obama, Russian president Vladimir Putin, England's Queen Elizabeth and China's Mao Zedong.
