Public advised not to be alarmed: SAF military and live-firing exercises July 13 to 20

SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be conducting several military and live-firing exercises from July 13 to 20, said the Ministry of Defence (Mindef).

The SAF will be using blanks and thunderflashes during military exercises in Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang and Mandai.

It will also be holding live-firing exercises using live ammunition and flares in the Pasir Laba (SAFTI) Live-Firing Area during this period.

Mindef instructed sea vessels and craft sailing through the Western Johor Straits from 8am on July 13 to 8am on July 20 to keep within the 75m Navigable Sea Lane and not stray into the live firing boundary.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mindef also advised the public to keep clear of the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base, as well as the islands of Pulau Sudong, Pulau Senang and Pulau Pawai which are proclaimed manoeuvring and firing grounds.

The three islands are within the live-firing areas where the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will be running live-firing exercises from July 13 to July 16 from 7am to 11pm, and on July 18 from 8am to 1pm. Flares will be released during the night firing.

The RSAF will be rehearsing from 5pm to 8.30pm for the National Day Parade aerial display over the next four Saturdays - July 11, 18 and 25 and Aug 1 . The public is advised not to be alarmed.
