A production supervisor, who met an underage girl through a online social networking site and had sex with her, was jailed for two years on Monday.

Mohamed Aziz Mohamed Berkit, then 34, met the Secondary 1 student online in early 2012. In March or April last year, Mohamed Aziz picked her up before school hours. They had sex in a car park at Jurong Central Park before he took her to school. This happened again on another occasion.

On Monday, he pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor and was jailed for two years by a district court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Christine Liu said that a stiff sentence was appropriate in view of the large age gap of more than 20 years between Mohamed Aziz and the victim. The judge ordered that the minor not be identified.
