"With the formation of these two institutions, our judicial system has become more effective in the handling of legal cases, especially with regard to providing families with options to settle disputes more amicably," said Dr Tan in a Facebook post. The President was briefed by the State Courts on its recent initiatives, such as the establishment of the State Courts Centre for Dispute Resolution in March, and the Community Justice and Tribunals Division in April. He also met staff from the Family Justice Courts, which hear family-related cases such as divorce or family violence.
