Some consumers may not realise it but the 4G mobile data plan they purchased may not guarantee them 4G services throughout their contract.

This is because telcos are packaging 4G services, which enable twice the surfing speed of 3G, as an add-on much like auto-roaming and caller ID display services to 3G plans.

This means that the 4G rates promoted at the point of signing up for a contract may change later with customers having to opt out if they do not want to pay the new rate for the 4G service.
