SINGAPORE - The sole highlight of my service transcript, issued when I completed my full-time national service, is a description of being the "critical runner" in a 400m relay during battalion sports day.

That such a seemingly trivial, non-operations-related entry was officially documented says something about my PES C experience as a full-time national serviceman (NSF) 15 years ago.
