Police cameras help in arrest of alleged molester

A 22-year-old man has been arrested for two offences of outrage of modesty with the help of police cameras installed at a Tampines void deck, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquires and follow-up investigations to identify the suspect after he molested two female victims in the lifts of the Housing Board blocks in Tampines on March 14 and April 1.

They arrested him on Monday, less than four hours after the second incident was reported.

In both cases, the suspect followed the victims into the lift and tried to befriend them. He then molested them before fleeing from the scene. The suspect faces up to 10 years' imprisonment and caning if found guilty.
