Police arrest man suspected of several break-ins in Tampines

The police have arrested a 48-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a spate of housebreaking cases in Tampines.

Since May this year, the police had received several reports of break-ins at homes in Tampines. Cash, jewellery and other valuables amounting to about $10,000 were stolen.

In most of the cases, the man gained access into the units through the common corridor windows while the occupants were away during the day. He was arrested at Simei Street on Tuesday at about 5.40 pm.

If convicted of housebreaking and theft by day, faces up to 10 years in jail, and caning.
