Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly molesting a woman on a public bus.

At 8.13pm on Monday, police were alerted to the man being detained at a bus stop along Sengkang Square. Investigations revealed that at about 8pm on the same day, the suspect allegedly took advantage of the 19-year-old victim while she was asleep on the bus. She sought assistance from other passengers to stop the bus and to call the police.

The suspect was detained until the police arrived, and was subsequently arrested. Investigations are ongoing. If convicted for outrage of modesty, he faces a maximum punishment of a two-year jail term with a fine and caning.
