SINGAPORE - A pipe leak occurred at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Boscombe Road on Thursday (Oct 5) night. By Friday morning, the pipe had been repaired.

The right lane of Tanjong Katong Road (towards Mountbatten Road) was closed to facilitate repairs, national water agency PUB said.

In a Facebook post at 8pm, PUB said its officers and contractors are currently onsite attending to the leak, which was picked up by its sensors at 5.50pm.

An eyewitness told The Straits Times that the water was flowing out slowly but was causing the gravel on the road to pop.

PUB said in update at 6.35am on Friday (Oct 6) that it had completed the pipe repair works at 3am, and the affected lane was reopened at 5.30am.

The agency told The Straits Times that the pipe was checked in January and it is investigating the cause of the leak.

This incident comes after two separate cases of pipes bursting in Bukit Batok West and Bukit Batok East, which sent water gushing up to four storeys high.

PUB has said it is checking all 100km of water pipes in Bukit Batok after initial observations found that corrosion caused two water pipes in the estate to burst in the span of less than a week.
